Where does the anime content come from?
Ake uses community-built extensions to search public torrent sources like Nyaa.si, AnimeTosho, and SeaDex. Extensions are sandboxed and run separately from the app. You choose which sources to enable and control what you download.
Can I watch anime offline?
Yes. Ake streams via WebTorrent, which caches episodes to your local storage. Once an episode finishes downloading, you can watch it without an internet connection. Perfect for flights, commutes, or areas with limited connectivity.
Is Ake available on Windows, macOS, or Android?
Currently Ake supports Linux (AppImage, deb, and pacman packages). Windows, macOS, and Android support is planned for future releases. The extension system and core architecture already support cross-platform deployment, so other platforms are coming soon.
How do I install Ake on Linux?
Download the latest release for your distribution from our GitLab repository. For Arch Linux users, Ake is available in the AUR. For other distros, download the AppImage, make it executable with chmod +x, and run it directly no installation required.
Does Ake collect any user data?
No. Ake has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no user accounts. Your anime library, watch history, and preferences are stored locally on your machine. Nothing is sent to any server. Your privacy is our priority.
How is Ake different from Crunchyroll or other streaming services?
Ake is not a streaming service it's a privacy-focused desktop client that aggregates content from sources you choose. There are no ads, no regional restrictions, no simulcast delays, and no content removal. You control everything download what you want, when you want.

Ake runs on any modern system with: a 64-bit processor, 4GB RAM (8GB recommended for smooth playback), an OpenGL 4.5 capable GPU for hardware-accelerated video playback, and at least 500MB of free disk space for the app and torrent cache.
